Elizabeth Phillips

The baptism records of the children of John Phillips in Northfarnham Parish give his wife’s name as Elizabeth. It appears that Elizabeth predeceased John and he remarried a woman named Mary. Elizabeth must have died after the birth of her last child in 1690.

John and Elizabeth Phillips’ children were baptized as follows:

3. Bryant 2/13/1677-8
4. Mary 10/07/1681
5. Thomas 10/27/1684
6. Tobias 1/12/1686-7
7. Anne 9/23/1690

• Although many, many people on the internet propose that the maiden name of Elizabeth was Tobias, I believe she was the daughter of Mary Bryan(t). Mary Bryan, widow, gave a Deed of Gift to Thomas, Robert and Eliza Bryan in 1656. I think it is significant that John and Elizabeth Phillips named their second son Bryant and their second daughter Mary. I believe they were named after the parents of Elizabeth.)
