About Elizabeth Small
Elizabeth was born on 6th.October 1802 to George and Mary Patfield (nee Brian) on the farm granted to her father in 1798. George had arrived in the second fleet aboard the "Neptune"and received his block quite close to the "Small" holding at Kissing Point.
On 1st May 1839 Mary and her family arrived at Woodford Island in the Clarence River district.The first education available on the Island was when Elizabeth and her husband,John, got a tutor for their children and allowed other children to come along for lessons at their home.John Small later made available a building for a school and a teacher, Alfred Page, was obtained.
Elizabeth died in 1870 and she is buried at the family cemetery with her husband on
Woodford Island cvlose to their home.
John and Elizabeth had eleven children.
They were married on 1st October 1820.
