About Elizabeth Torrey

Elizabeth Torrey (Frye) was born about 1620. Elizabeth passed away about 1690.

"He (Capt. William Torrey, Gent. of Combe St. Nicholas, Somerset,) married (3rd) about 1640 Elizabeth Frye, by which marriage he had three sons, Micajah, Josiah and Angel, and three daughters, Naomi (wife of John Lowell), Mary (wife of Williams Downs), and Judith (wife of Thomas Hunt). He and his family immigrated to New England in 1640, where he settled at Weymouth, Massachusetts." [1]

Elizabeth Frye and husband William Torrey were ancestors of William Howard Taft, 27th president of the U.S., through his son Angel. Taft-21

Research Notes

Elizabeth Frye's father may have been named George Frye. George should not be confused with the George Frye (b. 1616) of Combe St. Nicholas, Somersetshire, England who died at Weymouth, Massachusetts in 1676. The two Georges would have been contemporaries.
