Marriage Notes for Elizabeth Seaman and Amos Underhill:

Amos Underhill, son of John and Elizabeth (Willets) Underhill, was born in 1698 and his marriage intentions are noted as 11, 28, 1729/30 to Elizabeth Seaman, born 7, 10, 1710, daughter of Benjamin and Jean (Mott) Seaman of Westbury, in Town of Hempstead. As Amos sold his homestead in 1741 to his nephew, Samuel Underhill, Jr., and is subsequently on record as of Flushing, and as several of his sons were owners of flour mills with mercantile interests in New York City, it is assumed that Amos left the farm to engage in the milling business. The Westbury Friends' Records state that Amos Underhill, for not appearing on muster day in 1759, had two cows taken from him worth eight pounds; that David, Solomon and Edmond Underhill had certificate to Flushing, 7. 5. 1770. [from: Frost, Josephine C., Underhill Genealogy vol. 2-3, ([New York?] Published privately by M.C. Taylor in the interests of the Underhill Society of America, 1932), 2:96]

Jan. 22, 1738/9, Samuel, Amos, and Thomas Underhill, sons of John, lately deceased, made an exchange of land bought from the Indians in 1685. (Town Records of Oyster Bay, Vol. F, p. 287-a]

2, 2 mo., 1741, Amos Underhill of Cedar Swamp and Thomas Underhill of the same place, grandsons of John Underhill, who purchased land from the Indians. [Town Records of Oyster Bay, Vol. F, p. 289].

April 3, 1741, Amos Underhill and wife Elizabeth of Oyster Bay conveyed land to Samuel Underhill, Jr. [Town Records of Oyster Bay, Vol. F, p. 298]

Dec. 8, 1739, agreement on boundary line between lands of Samuel, Amos, and Thomas Underhill, which John Underhill bought of the Indians in 1684, and lands of Richard, Timothy, and Silvenus Townsend. [Town Records of Oyster Bay, Vol. F, Part 2, p. 33)

March 29, 1745, Amos Underhill and wife Elizabeth, John Robbins and wife Jane, Wm. Seaman and wife Martha convey to Benjamin Seaman two lots "bequeathed by Benjamin Seaman, deceased, late of Westbury" to his three daughters as above named. [Town Records of Oyster Bay, Vol. H, p. 253]
