About Elizabeth Croshaw

There is no proof that Elizabeth Yeardley married Joseph Croshaw. None of the scholarly books on either the Yeardley or the Croshaw families make this claim. It used to be claimed in the Wikipedia article on Joseph Croshaw but, when the claim was shown to be unproven, the Wiki article was edited, showing an unnamed first wife.

As of at least May 28, 2013, the reference to Elizabeth Yeardley, daughter of Gov. and Capt. George Yeardley and Temperance Flowerdew West, was restored as follows:

Croshaw married five times and had six children:[2]

    • Elizabeth is a daughter of Gov.and Capt. George Yeardley, and his wife, Temperence Flowerdew West.

      • Betty Croshaw (1636-1637)
      • [Ursula]Unity Croshaw(1636-1669), married Colonel John West.
      • Benjamin Croshaw (1640-1645), died young.

If it turns out there is more "proof" of an absence of marriage to Elizabeth Yeardley than an unnamed poster on Genforum, will change accordingly.
