About Elka Hirsch (Fleischer)
Elka Hirsch was the daughter of Israel and Johandl [aka Handl] Fleischer of House No. 34. In 1785, Elka gave birth to an out-of-wedlock son, Abraham, almost certainly fathered by Salomon Hirsch-Kohn, the man she later married (1790). She went on to have 11 more children born between the years 1791 and 1808. Salomon and Elka Hirsch resided in House No. 35, also a Fleischer residence.
Her age varies significantly. When she married Salomon Hirsch-Kohn in 1790, she is listed as age 20. Yet, when she died on 8 Dec 1815, her age is given as 54. She was likely born in 1765, making her 20 when she gave birth to her son Abraham, 25 when she married, and 50 at the time of her death.
