Elke Zinkand, 64, of Stanwood, WA, daughter of Karl and Elizabeth Stoecher, passed away August 24, 2007, at her home.
She was a very loving and caring person that gave so much to her family and friends. She was a proud, loving and dedicated wife, mother and grandmother, with many stories and memories that will be remembered forever. Elke worked for almost 30 years at The Everett Herald, where she left a lasting impression and was valued as a co-worker and friend.
She is survived by her husband, Howard Zinkand; sons, David Zinkand and family, Dan Zinkand and family, and Eric Zinkand and family; daughters, Rachel Halte and family and Laura Farler and family; sister, Gabi Burke and family; 14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many many friends and extended family members that will miss her.
Elke is preceded in death by her parents; and her sister, Rita Handler.
Viewing will be held at 1:30 p.m., services will be at 3 p.m., Wednesday, August 29, 2007, 1345 Ell Road at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Camano Island. Burial and dedication of her grave will be held at 5:30 p.m., August 29, at Evergreen Cemetery, 4504 Broadway, Everett, 98203.
Arrangements are under the direction of Gilbertson Funeral Home.
