===========================================
Feb 19, 1926, THE DAILY SENTINEL:
Emma Lorain Barker was born at Lowell, Mass., Aug. 29, 1858, and died Feb. 13, 1926 near Clifton, Colo.
When she was seven years of age her mother died, leaving three children, the youngest of them an infant son.
The family then removed to Wisconsin and it was on this journey that they saw Lincoln's funeral train, the vivid memory of which remained with little Ella all through her life.
She received her education in the public schools of Delavan, Wis., and the State Normal school at White Water, Wis., after which she taught in the schools of Wisconsin and Kansas until her marriage to Merritt Ogden Chatfield at Washington, Kansas on June 8, 1887. To this union three children were born, all of whom passed on a number of years ago.
Mr. and Mrs. Chatfield removed to the Chatfield ranch in the Clifton district eight years ago.
For many years Mr. Chatfield was an invalid and passed away four years ago. By his death Mrs. Chatfield was left the only remaining one of her family, but she was as tenderly loved and cared for by her stepson R.H. Chatfield, and his family as though she had been their own mother and grandmother.
