About Ellen Francis Prescott
Ellen Francis (Nellie) Johnson was born December 13 1839 at Rutland, Vermont during eh administration of President Filmore. She grew to womanhood there, and taught school for several years before her marriage to Lyman William Prescott on December 30, 1860. To this union were born five children. Preceding her in death were two daughters, one who died in infancy, and Mrs. Agnes Kay, who succumbed in 1939; and a son, Guy Prescott, who succumbed May 30, 1940. Two daughters, Mrs. Bertha Junod of Athens, Ohio, and Mrs. Patrick of Boone; 11 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and one great great grandson, survive Mrs. Prescott. She was the oldest of eight children, all of whom have passed away. She, with her family, moved to Iowa in 1871, locating at Carroll, Iowa, and later moving to Moingona. She came to Boone in 1876 where she had lived until the last two years, when she went to Ottumwa to make her home temporarily with a grandson, Rodney L. Patrick. Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 o'clock from the Schroeder funeral home, with the Rev. Effie McCollum Jones of Webster City in charge.
