In 1900 he farmed in Rushville Township, Phillips Co., KS (page 325) with his wife Lucy, children Homer, Clarence, Mary, Olly, and Lizzie, and his sister Caroline Altman. In 1910 E. Altman farmed in Deer Creek Township, Phillips Co., KS with his wife Lucy, children Homer, Clarence, Ollie, and Lizie. In the 1920 Phillips Co., KS census there are listed as having had 7 children with 5 living.

Notes: Homer served in WWI, enlisting on 20 June 1917 and discharged on 6 May 1919. He was in the 129th FA, 35th Div. In 1930 and 1940 Homer was a widower in the National Military Home, Levenworth, KS.
