About Emanuel M. Reiswig
Birth date on head stone is incorrect. Should be 1897
Emmanuel Reiswig was the second child of John and Sarah Seibel Reiswig. He was born on October 27, 1898 in the Hillsboro, Kansas community. He departed to be with Christ on Saturday, May 24, 1975, in the Reedley Hospital. He attained the age of 77 years, 6 months and 24 days.
It was in the Cresswell School south of Hillsboro, Kansas that he attended elementary school and lived the earlier days of his youth. As a young man he moved to Balko, Oklahoma where he found the Lord as his personal Saviour, was baptized by the Rev Fred Just and received into the fellowship of the Balko Mennonite Brethren Church in June of 1920.
On August 29, 1920 he was united in marriage to mary Seibel with the wedding ceremony being solemnized by the Rev Christen Seibel in the Steinrich Mennonite Brethren Church. To this union one son was born. The Reiswigs made their home on a farm in the Hillsboro community. The family moved to San Jose, Calif. where they resided for six years until their retirement in Reedley in 1965. Emmauel was a wheat and corn farmer in Kansas and a carpenter in San Jose. They stayed in a home of Mr. Schneider where Mary was the housekeeper for Mr. Schneider.
Father was in good health throughout life, except four years ago where he suffered from a heart condition. He underwent a successful surgery two weeks ago, but complications later set in, to which he succumbed and fell into a peaceful sleep in the arms of Jesus. His last words to his wife and family were these: "I am ready to meet my Lord when He calls, but I would like to stay with the family". Shortly before his losing consciousness he expressed the desire to see Sandra, the oldest granddaughter who with her husband Charles Wiest and family are missionaries in Zaire, Africa.
There are happy remembrances of father, the inspiration of which shall go with us in the days ahead. He was conscientious in all areas of life, which reflected a serious purpose of Christian faith and living. He loved his Lord and the brethren, and was greatly concerned about spiritual things. When he was younger he participated actively in Men's choruses and served in various capacities in the chruch.
As a husband and father he was loving and kind, for he loved his family and grandchildren gladly doing many deeds of love for them. He rejoiced particularly in the knowledge that all his grandchildren accepted the Lord as their Saviour.
In 1970, the family celebrated the 50th wedding anniversary of father and mother and they were looking forward to the 55th wedding anniversary this fall. In these 54 years of marriage they found thorns among the roses: but their trust in God, who provided their material and spiritual needs, was the strength of their life. Special comfort and encouragement came to father through the words of Psalms 46:1 which says: "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble." and Psalms 37:5 "Commit thy way unto the Lord: trust also in Him and He shall bring it to pass".
As a family we cherish the memories of a loving and kind husband, father, and grandfather; and although we mourn this loss, we rejoice in the hope of our seeing our beloved in glory when the Lord Jesus comes to call His redeemed prople to Himself.* Reference: Find A Grave Memorial - SmartCopy: May 16 2024, 19:49:03 UTC
