Obituary from The Zanesville Signal, Zanesville, Ohio, January 26, 1929: Former Resident of Summerfield Succumbs Friday - Summerfield, Ohio, January 26 -- The death of Mrs. Emily Curtis, 83, widow of the late Linus Curtis, Civil War Veteran, occurred early Friday at the home of her son Welcome T. Curtis, Holmesville.
The deceased has lived the most of her life in Summerfield and community and was very highly esteemed. A few years ago, failing health necessitated her leaving here to make her home in Canton with her son. Walter R. Curtis, and she was visiting in Holmesville when her death occurred.
In addition to the sons mentioned, another son, Linus Edward Curtis, Montrose, Colorado, several grand and great grand children and other relatives survive. Her husband and four sons, Hiram, Wesley Everett, Russell and Lawrence R. Curtis, preceded her in death.
Undertaker O.B. Brubach left Friday morning and brought the body to the hole of her niece, Mrs. C. G. Rodecker. Funeral arrangements have not been completed at this writing (Friday) but burial will be made in Summerfield Cemetery.
