FLYGER —The Friends of Lindsay Flyger are invited to attend the Funeral of his late beloved wife, Emily Gertrude, which will leave our Chapel Tomorrow (Friday), January 21, 1944 at the conclusion of, a service, commencing at 10 a.m., for the Karori Cemetery. Papers Past - Evening Post - 5 October 1936 - Page 15 - OBITUARY MRS WILLIAM TONKS The many friends of Mrs William Tonks, of Wellington, will regret to learn of her death which occurred at 17 Thomson Street last week.

Mrs Tonks was the daughter of the late Mr Alfred Pinker, Native schoolmaster at Maketu, Bay of Islands, and was born at Brighton, England, in 1858. She arrived in New Zealand in the Stratnaver in 1874 at the age of 16 years. On December 21 1880, she was married to William, eldest son of the late Enoch Tonks, by the late Rev J. W. Williams. She was a woman with a wonderful spirit of kindliness, and her cheerfulness and courage were an inspiration to her friends, who will feel much sympathy with her family in their loss. She is survived by her husband and eight children, three sons, Percy (Wanganui), Stanley (Wellington), Leonard (Dunedin), and five daughters, Mesdames R. Bennett, J. Rouse, L. Flyger, W. O. Urquhart, all of Wellington, and Mrs. V. W. Wright, of Glenbrook. There are twenty grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
