NOTE from Craig Sheldon: Emily Maude Wolhuter nee Coles' Civil Death record gives her age at death as 80 years and 10 months old, giving an estimated date of birth of c.1867; her gravestone gives her date of birth as 29 Sept. 1868 in Swansea, Wales.
There is a baptism record for an Emily Maude Coles, who was born in Swansea, Wales; however, although the day and month on her baptism record agree with that given on the gravestone - 29 Sept. - the year is given as 1863, five years earlier.
This discrepancy might be explained by the fact that Emily was only baptized (along with her younger sister, Alice Coles) on 11 Mar. 1880. The parents are named as William Reynard Escombe Coles and Maria, and the family's abode is given as Swansea. The girls were baptized in Essex, in St. John the Baptist's Church, Leytonstone.
Although the date of birth discrepancy might be explained by the late baptism, both Emily and Alice appear in the 1871 Welsh Census and the 1881 England Census where their given ages concur with the dates given in their baptism record. The later gravestone date seems to have been an error.
