Emma Elizabeth (Byrom) Bryan who married Jessie Mac Bryan. Emma Elizabeth was the daughter of Rev. Robert Cooke Byrom and Isabella Jane Heard. Rev. Robert Cooke Byrom was the son of Henry Byrom and Mary Stampier Cooke. We knew already that Rev. Robert Cooke Byrom was married twice and that he had a daughter named Emma Elizabeth Byrom. I had two children for Emma and her husband Jessie. It turns out that they had eight children in Tennessee and then went by train to Texas and had two more children there.

Bobbie McLain Hendricks, 1919 C R 2329, Como, TX 75431 submitted an article on the Jessie Mac Bryan and Emma Elizabeth (Byrom) Family for the "The Heritage of Coffee County Tennessee 1836-2004" - Jessie Mac Bryan was born 4-18-1868 in Warren County to John Cornelius (1839-1911) and Sarah Elizabeth "Betty" Holmes Bryan (1839-1929). His grandparents were John Morgan (1812-1867) and Susan McGuire Bryan (1815-1860).

The Bryans remained in Tennessee until 1894, when two of John C. Bryan's sons went to Texas. James "Jim" Bryan settled in Grayson County, TX where he lived the rest of his life. His brother, William, soon followed, settling first in Grayson County, TX and later moving on to Oklahoma in 1900. In 1907, the third son, Jessie Mac, no doubt listening to his brothers tell about the wonderful state, followed them to Texas. Jessie held an auction sale in Manchester, TN and sold everything he owned. With his wife and eight children, Jessie traveled by train to Texas. He settled in Anna, Collin County, TX and lived there until his death on 7-12-1946. His wife was Emma Elizabeth Byrom, born 3-27-1869 in Kentucky. They married 12-4-1889 in Coffee County, TN. Emma was the daughter of Rev. Robert and Isabella Jane Heard Byrom Cooke. he preceded him in death on 5-3-1928. They are both buried in Highland Cemetery, Collin County, Texas. They were the parents of ten children, the last two being born in Collin County:

1. Henry Alfred Bryan (1890-1958) married Maud Sadie Childress (1890-1977). They were the parents of the following children: Gladys Ailleen married Joseph A. Roderick; Dorothy Helen married Edgar L. Wanke; Ruby Ruth married Kenneth Coberty; and Doris Marie Bryan married Jessie Gurthie and later married Bill Roznavak.

2. Jesse Earnest Bryan (1893-1894).

3. Emma Dorothy Bryan (1895-1970) married Jesse L. Roper (1899-1979). They were the parents of two daughters: Rachel and Gynell Roper. Gynell married Russ Towers.

4. Bertha Lee "Beadie" Bryan (1897-1956) married Frank Riggins (died 1972). They had no children.

5. Buena Vista "Boone" Bryan (1900-1993) married Ralph Lee Lair (1894-1973). They were the parents of two daughters: Lillian Loreta Lair, who married Chuck Fretwell and Peggy Lee Lair, who married Ped Perkins.

6. Bernie Reed Bryan (1902-1973) married Effie Marie Smith (1905-1998). They had three children: Jimmie Rae first married Charles Ray Twist and later married Ernie Wolferson; Billie Erlene married Bob Wayne Thornton; and Richard Gordon Bryan first married Patsy Louise Kelly. His second marriage was to Peggy England and his third marriage was to Glenda Johnson.

7. James Walter "Jimmy" Bryan (1904-1971) married Lola Jane Rollins (1904-1984). They had four children: Betty Jane married Wayne Hartsfield; James Walter "Sonny" married Patricia Elaine "Pat" Covington; Jessie Lee "Tooter" married Lydia Ingram, and Bobbie Sue Bryan.

8. Beulah Burr Bryan (1907- ) married Leroy Francis "Roy" Adams. They had four children: Patsy Janelle "Pat" married William Marshall "Bill" Naylor. Margaret Elizabeth "Beth" married Hugh Robert Neill; Roy "Sonny" Adams married Dana Graves Rattan ad Dorothy Pearl "Dottie" Adams married Glen Richard Molter.

9. Audrey Pearl Bryan (1909-1998) married A. R. "Reed" Barton. They had two children: Reed Bryan first married Johnnie Chandler, married Jo Ann Anthony second, and then married Margie De Golia, and Billie Ruth Barton married Larry Brayton.

10. Eula Belle "Bell" Bryan (1911-1994) married Otis Everett McLain. They had eight children: Eugene; Polly Belle, Emma Nell who first married John Doyle Cook and later married Billy Ed Powell; Bobbie Jean married James Henry Hendricks; Gwendolyn Faye married Lewis Wayne Alexander; Otis Wayne married Charlott Marie Wilson; and Tommy Joe first married Kathy Marie Rutledge and then married Donna Lynn Murphy.
