About Emma Annie Rosetta Maines

residence Altoona Emma gave her son Perry (by Robert Blackford) to her sister Mary E. Maines Ferris to raise. Some say William Boyd did not want any part of the boy. Even after her divorce from Boyd she never took the boy back. Mary raised him as her own. Emma divorced William Boyd in 1905 on grounds of gross neglect of duty. Robert E. Blackford has a copy of the Marriage Affidavit #6335 and the Divorce decree from Probate Court in Perry County cas #10673. After the divorce Emma went to work as a housekeeper for William Henry Robinson and his wife Ella Fame who was ill and failing, so she could care for the children. After Ella died William and Emma married. Emma died at Mt. St. Mary's Hospital (in Nelsonville, Athens Cty., OH) which listed her residence as Hocking County, Ward Township, Glouster, R.D.3. Death Certificate reads: Emma R. Robinson, d. January 5, 1952, female white, born October 28, 1872. She was 79. Cause of death: Cerebral Hemorrhage due to Cerebral Arteriosclerosis. Burial was January 8, 1952 in Greenlawn Cemetery, Nelsonville, Athens Cty., OH find a grave has this listed: Was married 3 times.
1st to Robert Blackford in Jackson county, Ohio, he was shot on a railroad track. 2nd to William Boyd circus performer he abandoned her and she won a divorce in Perry county, Ohio. 3rd to William Henry Robinson, my great grandfather.
