At Mrs Ainslie’s school for young ladies in Swanston Street where she was a boarder for several years, Emma learned French and Italian, drawing and music, 23 Lessons in elocution and deportment prepared her for entry into the polite society of early Melbourne. In loving memory of the Honourable William Arthur Callander a'BECKETT born 7 Jul 1833 died 16 Dec 1901 eldest son of Sir William a'BECKETT, C.J. who lies buried in Norwood Cemetery, England and his wife Emily, buried at St. Peter's Newtown, Sydney, N.S.W. and of his wife Emma born 9 Jan 1838 died 26 Feb 1906 also their younger son Arthur Heywood a'BECKETT died 8 Apr 1939 and his beloved wife Beatrice Isabel 16 Dec 1870 to 24 Dec 1938.
