Emma Jean Nelson

Our Beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Emma Jean Poppleton Nelson, was reunited with her eternal companion on August 22, 2014. She was born on June 3, 1929 in Logan, Utah to David and Emma Peterson Poppleton. Jean married her sweetheart, Reed Peterson Nelson, on June 16, 1948 in the Logan LDS Temple.

Words are not enough to describe the impact that Jean has had on the lives of those she has touched throughout her life. She was and is a true example to all of us of the meaning of Christ-like love. Her concerns were always directed toward others and nothing gave her greater joy than to be of service to her family and friends. We are truly blessed to have known her. Jean was always positive and her faith unwavering in her understanding of Heavenly Father's plan for her and her family. She had an impact for good on all those that she met.

Jean grew up on a farm in Wellsville, Utah where she learned the value of hard work and a love for her horse "Daisy."

She spent her whole life in service to her Heavenly Father and his Church. She especially enjoyed serving in Young Women's and Relief Society. She loved the arts, drama, road shows, gardening, cooking and reading.

She is survived by her children, Kay (Larry) Pierce, Pleasant View; Lamont (Wendy) Nelson and Kathy (David) Neil all of Layton; 10 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; son-in-law, Carl Bruce; and all of her six brothers and sisters.

Interment, Washington Heights Memorial Park.
