Emma Reuther

Emma Reuther died Friday Dec. 4, 1998 at the Wishek Retirement Home Wishek, North Dakota.

Funeral services for Emma Reuther 93 of Wishek were held Monday Dec. 7, 1998 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Ashley. The Rev. Marty Toepke-Floyd officiated. Burial was in Zion II Lutheran Cemetery rural Ashley. Carlsen Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Emma Reuther was born Jan. 26, 1905 to Jacob and Susanna nee (Dobler) Bendewald northeast of Ashley on the family homestead. She was married to Jacob Reuther on Nov. 23, 1924 in a rural church east of Ashley. They made their home on the Karl Reuther farm.

Her husband Jacob died suddenly at the age of 45 in Feb. of 1947. Emma and her children continued to farm until 1970 when she moved into Ashley in 1944.

Baking was very enjoyable to Emma. Especially special event cakes such as wedding cakes and birthday cakes. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Ashley.

Survivors include 2 daughters Leona (J.F. Weszner) of Ashley and Phyllis (Clarence) Pleines of Woodworth, North Dakota, 1 son Clifford Reuther of Ashley, 1 daughter-in-law Wilma Reuther of Ashley. 2 sisters Martha Reuther of Ashley and Hilda Meidinger of Seattle, Washington. 5 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son Clarence Reuther, 4 sisters, 3 brothers and 3 great grandchildren.

Honorary casket bearers were Nathan Weszner, Kaitlyn Weszner, Lisa Seil, Shanna Seil, Andrew Seil, Hayley Pleines, Allison Stugelmayer, McKinze Stugelmayer and Adma Stugelmayer.
