About Emmett Emil Akers
Came to Texas in 1896. Texas was a new state and the land of promise. Many people were moving to Texas about this time. Lived in Munda, Texas. (had a store)
Worked later for P.B. Broach & Son. In 1919 he was offered a good job in Crowell for R. B. Edwards Co. In Feb 1920 Emmett took a better job in Quanah for Perkins-Watkins Co. but after only one month he went in as a partner with Hiram Smith and Bob Steakley in Dry Goods, Groceries, and Hardware.
Around 1922 he went into business in Dry Goods for himself. In 1925 Emmett and Opelia decided to open a 2nd store in Munday.
