Emroy C. ( Carlough) Roehrs 1915 - 2003 Clintondale, N.Y. Emroy C. Roehrs, a resident of Clintondale since 1960, formerly of Upper Saddle River, N.J., died after what she said was "a wonderful life" on Wednesday, August 20, 2003 at home. She was 88. Born Emroy Bonita Carlough, she was the daughter of the late David James and Nanetta Gross Carlough. She was born on May 1, 1915 in Upper Saddle River, N.J. On July 27, 1940 she married the late Kurt H. Roehrs, who predeceased her on December 31, 1978.She graduated from Connecticut College for Women (President of the class of 1937); after graduating she took a teaching position in the English Department at Ramsey High School. She purchased an apple farm in Clintondale in 1960. Besides helping her husband farm in Clintondale in 1960. Besides helping her husband run the 160 acre farm, she and her husband raised their four children. She also served as a substitute teacher at the campus school in New Paltz. She was an active member of the Reformed Church of New Paltz; Connecticut College for Women Alumni Association; PTSO of New Paltz; The Women's Study Club of New Paltz; The New Paltz Garden Club; Chapter A of the PEO Sisterhood; The Huguenot Historical Society (as well as serving as a tour guide); and various bridge groups. She had a special interest in antiques and fine art. She enjoyed her family, good friends, good times, and a good hand of bridge. She is survived by two daughters, Dorcas Roehrs Friedberg of Atlanta, Ga., Cynthia Roehrs Barber of Middleburgh; two sons, David Kurt Roehrs of of New Paltz, Kurt S. Roehrs of Webster, Mass.; a sister, Doris Carlough Lynch of Ramsey, N.J.; six grandchildren, Pine, Jaime, and Clinton Roehrs of New Paltz, Grace, Ford, and Elias Barber of Middleburgh; and many nieces and nephews.She was predeceased by a sister, Evelyn Higgins; and two brothers, James David Carlough and Clinton D. Carlough. There will be no visitation. .A memorial service will take place on Saturday, August 30 at — p.m. at Reformed Church of New Paltz.Cremation took place in Cedar Hill Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the Reformed Church of New Paltz, Clintondale Fire Department, or the Hospice of Ulster and Dutchess Counties.Arrangements by Copeland Funeral Home
