About Endlin Friedberg
Endlin/Hendlin/Hindlin, the mother of Hindchen was thought by Ettlinger to be the possible daughter of Isaac Nauheim. This was a very logical guess, because he was living in the Schwert before Gumpricht moved in, and it looked very much as though the latter should be Isaac’s son-in-law. But look at how lucky we were!! Andernacht quotes a record (And2 #497) from October, 1538, in which Isaac Nauheim requests that his house be turned over to “Simon’s daughter and her husband”. This sort of turning over of houses was very common because people wanted to move into a smaller house with lower taxes, and Isaac presumably asked this young couple if they could afford the tax before making the request. Whether he was a relative or not is unclear. But what is important is that the “Simon” in question is almost certainly Simon Wolf Auerbach Schwabach, who thereby becomes part of the source of the name “Simon Wolf” in the Oppenheim family.
