About Engelbert Röntgen, Jr.
Engelbert Röntgen Jr., son of Julius Röntgen (Sr.) and his first wife Amanda Maier, has studied the cello with Isaäc Mossel in Amsterdam, with Julius Klengel in Leipzig and with Pablo Casals.
Engelbert Jr, his father and his brother Julius Jr. have performed together as the Röntgen Trio. He has been engaged as solo cellist with the opera of Rostock, the Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich (1906-1911), the Vienna Hofoper (1912-1914), the New York Symphony Orchestra (1916), the Minneapolis Symphony Orchestra and the Metropolitan Opera (1928-1954). Besides he has taught at the David Mannes Music School and has been a member of the New York Chamber Music Society.
With his spouse Helen Helfrich he returned to the Netherlands later in his life.
