Enos Baldwin, son of Isaac Baldwin and Emma (or Annie) Coffeen, was b. in Cavendish, Vt., on June 28,1783; he m. LUCY PARKER, dau. of Aaron Parker, a descendant of Abraham Parker,of Woburn,Mass (who m. Rose Whitlock in 1644,and removed to Chelmsford, Mass.).

They had son Austin (1807)

Lucy d. Feb.1808. He m. 2nd at Albany,NY, in 1810, with HANNAH DUNNELL, removed to Newburgh in 1815, and:

had children: Elbridge Gerry, Harriet, Anne, Emma, Enos, Henry, and Cornelia.

He d. in New York, in 1829.

He had a remarkable genius for mechanical pursuits and engaged, in Albany, NY, with the first manufactur of plows in the country; afterwards to New York. He was Vice Pressident of the American Institute at its organization, but died at the early age of forty-one years.He established the Baldwin Tool Company; taken over and managed by his son Austin affter his early death.

Note: The company relocated to Middlebury, Conn. The company made wooden planes under the Arrowmammett Works name, owned by Austin Baldwin. Plane irons made there have the Baldwin Tool Co. logo. They were sold to Globe Mfg.Co., and some blades have both logos. Also,Starr Mfg.Co. made irons for them.
