About Ens. George Sanders
Ens. George Sanders, otherwise Saunders, the emigrant of 1667, died Nov. 16, 1690 in Connecticut. He was the son of Maj. Henry Sanders and Susanna Alleston. His brother Christopher also emigrated to New England; emigration date seen for Christopher is 1671.
Perhaps this George married;
- 1st to an unknown woman in England, mother of George; this is speculative.
- Then to Mary Saxton, daughter of George Saxton; it was probably their daughter Mary who married Andrew Moore of Simsbury. Also a child Abiah.
He is also seen as husband of Mehitable Bartlett, daughter of John Bartlett of Windsor. But perhaps she married his son George Sanders, or a different George Sanders.
Was it this George or his son George or an entirely different George who married Abigail Moore, daughter of Deacon John Moore, and widow of Thomas Bissell, in 1691?
Biography
From http://www.saundersfamilytree.com/MYRTLESAUNDERS-1ST-PAGESGROUP.htm
Two brothers, Christopher and George Saunders, or Sanders, came to Windsor, Conn., about 1667. The first of these was the father of Daniel (died young), Susanna, Daniel, and Elizabeth, and he is believed to have removed to Rehoboth in the latter part of his life. George, the second of the brothers, married Mary Saxton, sometime before 1674, and was the father of George, Mary Moore, and Abiah. It is said that this George died in 1690, yet one George Saunders or Sanders is said to have removed to Simsbury about that time, and is identified as the brother of Christopher. This George was married in 1691 to Abigail Bissell, by whom he had a daughter Hannah, [SIC: she was born 1640, too old to have a child in 1691], and is believed to have died in 1697. It is possible that the first date of death was a mistake.

SANDERS, Christopher, Windsor 1671, came short time bef. as seems prob. had Daniel, wh. d. 22 Dec. 1675, at 11 days old; Susanna, b. 20 Nov. 1676; Daniel, again, 27 Oct. 1678; and Eliz. 30 Apr. 1681 ; and it may be he was unsuccess. in trade, and rem. to Rehoboth, for one of this name was there in 1690 ... GEORGE, Windsor, br. of Christopher, propound. for freem. 1667, when he was ens. at Killingworth, m. bef. 1674, Mary, d. of George Saxton, had George, perhaps by former w. old eno. at least to be tax. with his f. 1675 ; and d. 16 Nov. 1690, leav. Mary, then 13 yrs. old, and Abiah, a. 6. ... GEORGE, Windsor, br. of Christopher, acc. to Stiles, 770, rem. to Simsbury, m. 17 Dec. 1691, Abigail, perhaps d. of Nathaniel Bissell, wh. Stiles prints Russell, had, he says, Hannah, b. 23 May previous, and he d. 5 Dec. 1697. Very much confusion to this name exists, and it may not be wholly dissipat. by reducing two Georges to one.
