Erka Rousseau (1942 - 2013)
Erka (70) and her husband Daan (71), a retired couple from Wellington, were found dead in their bedroom on 8th May 2013.
Their bodies were found by police who went to investigate after one of their sons became worried because his parents weren’t answering their phones. Police spokesman Colonel Tembinkosi Kinana said the couple’s bodies were found in their bedroom, with their feet bound, and hands tied behind their backs with shoelaces, and plastic bags over their heads. Police suspected they had been strangled and suffocated.
The couple’s eldest son, Siegfried Rousseau and his younger brother flew down from Gauteng after receiving the news. There was no sign of forced entry. Warrant Officer Andre Traut said that police arrested Zuko Tisana (39), after he was found with a cellphone stolen from the couple’s home. Tisana was charged with murder. He appeared in the Paarl Magistrate’s Court on Monday, but the case was postponed until May 24 for a bail application. Traut said the man was in custody.
The couple were buried at Church East in Wellington at 10am on Monday 13th May.
