Erma Louise Troyer

Erma Louise (Goodman) Troyer, 92, of Goshen, died Monday, November 17, 2014 at the Courtyard Nursing Home.

Erma was born on December 9, 1921 to Harry and Emma S. (Kehr) Goodman in Goshen. On March 12, 1944 she married Levi S. Troyer in Elkhart. He preceded her in death in 1964.

She is survived by daughters, Sharon Lemmon (Joe), Goshen and Judy Troyer, Ft. Wayne; grandsons, Jeff Lemmon (Roxanne), Elkhart and Tony Lemmon (Debbie) Ft. Wayne; 4 great- grandchildren, 3 step-great grandchildren and 4 step-great great grandchildren; sisters, Florence Hower, Goshen, and Donnabelle Fletcher (Lamar), Goshen; brother, Robert Goodman (Roberta), Camarillo, CA; sisters-in-law, June Goodman, Goshen, Polly Goodman, Alahambra, CA, Savilla Handrich, Dalton, OH, and Wilma Bontrager (Lyle), Fairview, MI; she was preceded in death by siblings, Jasper V. Goodman, Mary E. Goodman, Claire Mathews (Ernest), Walter LeRoy Goodman (Phyllis), Ruth Locke, Imogene Creakbaum, Edward Goodman, and Harold Goodman.

Erma was a member of Prairie Street Mennonite Church and was baptized at Studebaker Park in 1934. Before marriage she worked at Boris Smoler and Sons in the Catalog Department until 1944. In 1949, she began employment at Whitehall Laboratories in quality control until retiring in 1985. She was a volunteer at Elkhart General Hospital. Erma enjoyed bowling with the Jo-Cur Jills, traveling, bingo and photography.

Friends may call from 3 until 7 p.m., Thursday, November 20, at Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home and from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m., Friday November 21 at Prairie Street Mennonite Church with Pastor Frances Ringenberg. Burial to follow at Rice Cemetery.
