Ernest Truman Givan, 83, died unexpectedly Wednesday of an apparent heart attack. He was born in Warner Valley, Lake County, Oregon, in 1892. He was a longtime resident of the Bonanza area where he ranched until moving to Eagle Point eight years ago. On Oct. 11, 1919, in Yreka, Calif., he married the former Joanne Driscoll, who survives. Other survivors are sons, Bob Givan, Ventura, Calif., Gordon Givan, Portland; Pat Givan, Richland, Wash.; daughters, Marilee Hynes, Carmichael, Calif., and Nancy Friar, Medford; brother, Dallas Givan, Fort Bidwell, Calif.; also 17 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Joanna Frances Driscoll Givan Birth: Oct. 23, 1897
Joanna Frances Givan, 91, a longtime Bonanza High School teacher, died Thursday, February 2, 1989 in Eugene. Mrs. Givan was born in Bonanza to early settlers, Dan and Grace Kuhn Dirscoll. She graduated from the University of Oregon, Eugene, in 1918. She was a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority. She was married to Ernest Givan in 1919 after he returned from military service in World War I. They ranched in Bonanza and raised a family there. Mrs. Givan had a master's degree in speech from College of the Pacific. She taught school for many years, retiring from Bonanza High School after teaching there for 26 years. Survivors include her daughters, Marilee Hynes, Phoenix, and Nancy Givan, Medford; sons, Gordon Givan, Portland, Robert Givan, Santa Paula, Calif., and Patrick Givan, Redmond, Wash.; 17 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1976 and two sons, E.T. in 1924 and Danny in 1958. Family links: Spouse:
