About Ernest Talbot Riggs

Ernest was born to Nathan Cram Tenney and Nancy Beaufort Morris (Riggs) (Marvin). Nancy was Nathan's third, plural, wife. Ernest lived only 18 days; his death was reported in the Deseret News:

Desert News Weekly, May 3, 1865 issue -- Died: Springdale, Kane Co., 21 March 1865, Ernest Telbot [sic], son of Nathan C. & Nancy R. Tenney, 18 days, 12 hours.

Ernest's middle name was probably really spelled "Talbot"; he was probably named after Nancy Beaufort Morris' mother, Sophia Talbot.

Since Ernest died in 1865, it is likely that he was buried in the Hilltop cemetery on Moquitch Hill in Springdale, rather than the Jolley-Gifford cemetery in Springdale, which was formed in the 1920s.

Some of the graves in the old cemetery do not have headstones, others have sandstone headstones where the engraving has worn away, some graves only have small stones marking the graves.

To date, no one has reported a headstone for Ernest.
