

"Last Friday morning about ten o'clock, Ernest Smith, who has had charge of the Mutual Telephone system in Hope for several years, was killed by coming in contact with a live electric wire while stringing a telephone wire." ..... "He leaves a wife (Augusta L. Stralow Smith) and a little daughter (Lola May Smith) one year and 3 months old, besides a mother (Mrs. Charles Elizabeth Smith), three brothers, four sisters and a host of friends to mourn his demise. Ernest was the youngest of the children, and the first to take his departure to another world."
