About Esther Rashka Haskelowicz
Sophie (Urstein) Haskel indicated that her grandmother's name was Esther Rashka. The name 'Rashka' is the Russian version of Raizel (Rose); at the time Esther Rashka was born, Bendin, Poland may have been part of Russia. The Polish version of the name would have been 'Rushka'. Of note, one of Sophie's sisters was named Rose, another was named Esther. According to Harry Brenner, Esther's father was a Rabbi(letter to djw, 1983).
Esther Rashka's maiden name shown in the Wielun town birth records of children David and Simon Aaron is listed as CYMERSMAN or CYMERMAN (see Note under Shlomo Zalman Hasklowicz).
