Torrey's NE Marriages says: Esther / Hester [Williams?] Nichols? died 6 January 1679/80 at age 44. Married 1652 in New London.

He married first Hester Nichols, who was the daughter of John Nichols and his wife Grace. He married second Esther Nichols, daughter of Caleb Nichols and his wife Anne Ward. Hester and Esther were first cousins. (John and Caleb were brothers.) His third wife was Rebecca Parker, with whom he had no issue.

He married Hester Nichols about 1651 and they had issue:

Born on Feb. 18, 1635 on Fairfield, Fairfield County, Connecticut,and died Jan. 6, 1679 age 44 in Mystic, New London County, Connecticut. Buried in White Hall Graveyard, Mystic, New London County, Connecticut. She was the daughter of John Nichols and his wife Grace. She was the first wife of John Prentice (1628 - 1691), who married her 1651/1652 in Roxbury, Massachusetts (or New London, CT).

2nd wife Esther Nichols - New London County, Connecticut, USA. Daughter of Caleb Nichols and Anne Ward. Second wife of John Prentice, married in 1680 a year after his first wife Hester Nichols died.

These two women are often thought of as the same person but in fact were first cousins (fathers were brothers). Esther was the mother of Valentine Prentice b. 1681.

She was the first wife of John Prentice, son of Valentine Nichols, who married her 1651 in Roxbury, Massachusetts.
