OBITUARY Mrs. W. L. Bowen Esther M. Sibley, daughter of Orrin Sibley, was born in Cooperstown, N.Y., December 26, 1838, and died at Marshalltown, Iowa, June 13, 1922. On December 27, 1856, she was united in marriage to Wm. L. Bowen. They established their home at Ripon, Wisconsin, but in 1865 moved to Rockford, Iowa. She continued to live in or near Rockford until 1913, when she moved to Marshalltown, Iowa. Her husband died January 13, 1908. All of her seven children survive her. They are: Orrin L. Bowen of Yakima, Wash.; Mrs. Laura Dickson, of Highland, Cal.; R.J. Bowen of Marshalltown; Mrs. W.J. Lorenz of Rockford; S.W.J. Bowen of Los Angeles, Calif.; J.L. Bowen of Rockford; and Miss Cora Bowen of Marshalltown. Four weeks ago Mrs. Bowen fell, sustaining a severe injury, from which she never recovered. She lived to an advanced age and came to earth's night with the assurance that the dawning of an eternal day would appear on the morrow. For sixty-eight years she has been a member of the Methodist Episcopal church. She was one of the two remaining charter members of the Aid society of the Rockford church. Mrs. Bowen is survived by her seven children, twenty grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at 2:30 from the home of her daughter, Mrs. W.J. Lorenz, being in charge of Rev. Baker, who was assisted by Rev. Smith. Interment was made in Riverside by her husband.
