About Esther Wallace
She is the "Esther" of Lady Esther. Probably helped make the first cosmetics formulas, and she was the first born of the Cohen girls. But she got out of the enterprise very early. Married Maurice Ein and had a baby, Cyrilla in 1908. The marriage apparently ended in divorce.
Married Penny Wallace on April 16, 1916, in Chicago.
In 1920 the three of them lived in Contra Costa, CA, right next to her sister Ida, Harry Padnos and their three kids Irvin, Helen (Ruth) and Sheldon (LeRoy). Esther and Penny had their own store, but Harry was a shipyard laborer and Ida was selling door to door (not surprising what happened to their relationship after that!). As to Penny, he disappears from the records after the 1920 census.
In 1930 Esther was living with her daughter and Son-in-law (Dr. Carmel) in Cincinnati. Amazingly, her vocation there is listed as "manufacturer of salad dressing". These sisters never stopped!
