Esther Yoder

In 1983, a folder was printed by J. Otis Yoder to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the birth of her youngest son, Moses H Yoder. Esther Hertzler Yoder wrote these words as a legacy to her children and grandchildren about six weeks before her homegoing: "I will leave this for you as a salutation and memorium; You my beloved children and grandchildren! While I'm thinking to depart soon from this sorrowful world, and with the help and grace of the Lord a better one to enter; for He that gives the goodly life takes it again according to His pleasure. So I'll give you my solemn advice, repent and be converted in younger years, for the Lord is God, and helps each time when you with earnestness and diligence to Him appeal. Devote yourselves to reading and prayer to the Lord, because from Him all goodness and blessings come. Be compassionate one to another, pleasant and friendly, for this is pleasing to the Lord. At the end I commit myself and you all together with body and soul into the hand of God. He will keep us in a saving faith till a blessed end, and this all through Jesus Christ, Amen.
