Per 1900 census, Ethel had 9 children..6 of whom died! She came to US in 1894 with David, Rose and Leah. (per sons and census records) When she first came to Philly, she opened a store on Kater St. near Cantrell (between 5th, 6th, South and Bainbridge. (was at 508 Kater St in 1900 per census)
Ethel died tragically in 1902...she was making "taglach" (a candy-type dough) and her new oil stove exploded right in her face. Albert Pransky remembers hearing of original surname Salant and that she was descended from 13 generations of Rabbis.
