Eugene F. Lapinsky
Retired from Parker White Metal
Eugene F. Lapinsky, 78, 1905 W. 11th St., died Sunday, Feb. 29, 2004, after a brief illness.
He was born Sept. 2, 1925, in Erie, son of the late John and Lula Bishop Lipinski.
Retiring in 1987, he worked as a punch press operator for Parker White Metal.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was assigned throughout the European and Pacific theaters.
He participated with the recreation therapy program at Veterans Affairs Medical Center. He was an artist and won several awards for his work.
He enjoyed bowling, fishing and crafts.
He was preceded in death by a son, Ronald E. Lapinsky; two sisters, Lorna Anderson and Bonita Roberson; and a brother, Leonard Lapinsky.
Survivors include his wife, Clara Truchanowicz Lapinsky, whom he married in 1946; two daughters, Nancy J. Meyers and her husband, Darrell, and Linda M. Bizzarro and her husband, Ralph, all of Erie; four sons, Robert W. Lapinsky and his wife, Betsy, and Patrick L. Lapinsky, all of Erie, Arnold R. Lapinsky of Ransomville, N.Y., and Brian D. Lapinsky and his wife, Sukee, of Parma, Ohio; three sisters, Dolores Rodland of Harborcreek Township, Patricia Dean and her husband, Albert, of Florida and Jacqueline Roward and her husband, Charles, of Wattsburg; a brother, Gordon Lapinski and his wife, Mary Ann, of Harborcreek; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Friends may call Wednesday from 6 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from noon to 1:30 p.m. at the Brugger Home for Funerals, 1595 W. 38th St. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 2 p.m. at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, 2401 W. 38th St.
Burial will be at Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery.
