About Eunice Allcot
Eunice was orphaned when her father died on a British prison ship in New York Harbor while serving in the American Revolution. Her brother died in infancy in 1776 and according to records she was the only surviving child.
She married David Alcock (b. 1758, New Haven), also a soldier of the American Revolution. After the war he changed his name (as did many Alcock families) to Allcot (usually found as Alcott, the more typical spelling, in records). Their daughter Elizabeth Allcot/Alcott (b. 1785) married Joseph-Alexandre de Chabrier de Peloubet.
