About Eunice Lorene Cloukey (Boyce)

Some personal thoughts about my mother as written by her son, Dennis.

I remember Ma when she made us plain donuts. I would watch them turn over on their own, it was great. I remember Ma when she made us peanut butter cookies with kisses. I remember Ma with those cream puffs. She enjoyed watching the children happily eagar for that first bite.

She drove us everywhere because it made us happy. She willfully let me go with my father to ensure that I was to become a man but I always was under that watchful eye to ensure that 'My Dennis' was being cared for. I acted like my father but though like my mother. She would sit with me when I needed it. She always new when something was wrong.

I remember the fiddleheads, the chicken stew with dumplings, and all kinds of soups that always made me smile. She made us mittens, socks, and hats. It was special to me.

As I grew older, me and my three sisters were all married. We would all talk for hours on the phone each month. Each of us would swear that 'I was the favorite' because you felt like it. She was all yours during that special moment of conversation. She was a gem that could not be reproduced. She was full of wisdom, who always looked serious but had a heart that everyone just adored.

She was a person that anyone in the family would want to move in. Both of my wives wanted my mother to move in because she was an asset and never a burden. Among her seven brothers and sister, she was referred to as 'The Chief'. I could never talk back to my mother, she was too beautiful a person to disrespect.
