About Euphemia Engelschall
Based on her marriage certificate Euphemia was born into a family of master shoemakers.
From 1850 to 1855 she lived at 7 Trafalgar Terrace in Kingstown, Ireland under the employment of Harriette Thompson. Harriette wrote: "Euphemia Rothhammer has lived in my service as lady's maid and housekeeper for five years during which time she has conducted herself completely to my satisfaction. She understands dress making, millinery, hair dressing, and fine washing. She is active, and most obliging, and is particularly attentive to an invalid. I regret that in consequence of the illness of her father she is obliged to return to Munich." HT May 15, 1855
Remy and Euphemia are buried at Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery in Naperville IL. After the main entrance, take the first right, then left at the next corner. Head north then right, heading east. Facing East, the headstone is about 12 rows down, on the right, toward the middle.
The stations of the cross at Sts Peter and Paul Catholic Church are very rare paintings on copper plates. They are dedicated to the memory of Remy and Euphemia.
