About Eva Rowcroft :In 1881 census she was the eldest child at home with her parents at Upper Addiscombe RD, Croydon, London England. Like her two sisters, she had been born in the East Indies or India & was seventeen in 1881. Her younger sisters O F Rowcroft & Annie L Rowcroft were only 10 & 9 & were both being taught at home by a Governess Emily Tewkesbury from Dorset. There was a visitor present during this census, Mrs Florence Nicalay (33) and I suspect that the two youngest girls present might be her children Harriet M &Violet Isabel, aged 7&6, but I may be quite wrong?
