Married 2nd in 1951 to Clayonia Poling Skidmore daughter of Haymond Jasper Poling and Amelia Hymes Poling.

Evert was the son of John R. Cole and Laura E. Lewellyn Cole.

Evert and Ida B. Hall Cole had six children: Hazel Cole, John Cole, Edna Cole Yost, Edwin Cole, Edmond Cole, and Nelda Cole Harris.
