According to his death certificate he spent 3 years in South Australia before moving to Victoria.

His death certificate records that he was buried at the Bright Cemetery, although he died in South Yarra in Melbourne, at his sister Elizabeth's house. However, he rests at the Harrietville cemetery with his wife and two children. His Memorial Stone at Harrietville Cemetery reads: In Loving Memory Of / our dear Father / EZEKIEL HOCKING / Died 20-7-1923 / also our dear Mother / MARGARET / died 19-2-1947 / and / NELL / died 18-12-1925

Nell was the first wife of Ezekiel's son, Ezekiel.

His death was reported in The Argus on Monday 21st July 1924:
