About Ezekiel Buck, Sr.

Ezekiel Buck

  • Birth: Jan 15 1650 - Wethersfield, Hartford, Connecticut, United States
  • Death: Mar 3 1713 - Wethersfield, Hartford, Connecticut, United States
  • Wife: Rachel Andrews
  • Child: Enoch Buck

According to the Harvey history of the Buck family, Ezekiel was a farmer and served in the militia. In 1698 he became one of the original purchasers of properties of the Durham Grant. He was a founder of Newington, near Wethersfield, CT. Harvey indicates all children were by wife Rachel Andrews, making no mention of a first wife Rachel Beebe.

Per Harvey Ezekiel lived on a tract of land adjoining his brother Jonathan Buck.

Harvey indicates that Ezekiel's son Ezekiel Buck, Jr. was a farmer of the unfortunate kind. The town records of Wethersfield contain an order relating to him under date of July 14, 1715:

"Voted by the townsmen, that whereas Ezekiel Buck has a long time been under infirmities of body, and has put himself into the hand of a physician for a cure, and has not wherewith to answer the charge, It is voted, that the selectmen, for the time being shall supply him with a sufficiency of money, or what is needful in his necessity, in order to his obtaining of a cure of his infirmity."

Per Harvey Ezekiel Buck, Jr. died soon after the entry of this order leaving issue Ezekiel and Sarah of the 4th generation (see page 42).
