According to Erich ZIPPER's daughter Lorraine B.:

" ... (Great-grandfather) Julius ZIPPER was possibly the oldest son of eleven children, from three marriages of Cantor ??? ZIPPER (originally from Galicia) who died in Vienna about 1881. We think Julius may have been the only child of the first marriage and his Mother (name unknown) died at a young age.

According to a letter dated 6.9.1993 from the late Dr. Herbert ZIPPER to Dad's first cousin, Cantor ZIPPER's second marriage was to Fanny SCHWARZENBERG, 1838-1927, the daughter of a prominent Hungarian Rabbi.

Dr. Herbert Zipper went on to say "I knew her well. Fanny was a very strong and admirable character. ". As Fanny would seem to have been the second wife of Cantor ZIPPER and Herbert says he knew her then she must have been divorced from Cantor Zipper who then married for a third time. The names of the children of Cantor ZIPPER and Fanny SCHWARZENBERG are not known ..."

(N.B. As the names - and exact data (for all except "Theodor") - of these children ARE now known it is unclear whether Cantor Joseph ZIPPER really did marry for a third time ...)

N.B. On Jossel ZIPPER's IKG-Wien marriage registration to Sali, née SCHILLER, dated 24th. March 1889, the name of his mother is given only as "Ettel" (i.e. her family name at birth not supplied).
