About Fannie M Freeman
BRYSON CITY - Fannie Wiggins Freeman, 92, formerly of the Jackson Line community, died Thursday, Jan. 24, 2002, in Crane Hill, Ala. A native of Swain County, she was the daughter of the late Sherrill and Laura Queen Wiggins and wife of the late Hurshell Thomas Freeman, who she married in 1930. She was a graduate of Almond High School in 1930, where she was valedictorian. She was the first female school bus driver in Swain County and also drove the library bookmobile. Surviving are two daughters, Helen Orr and husband, Robert, of Cullman, Ala., and Carol Livingston and husband, David, of Asheville; two sons, A.C. "Joe" Freeman and wife, Diane, of Cullman, Ala., and Richard Freeman and wife, Patti, of Edmond, Okla.; eight grandchildren and 11 great- grandchildren. The funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 28, at Bryson City First Baptist Church, of which she was a member and Sunday school teacher for over 30 years. The Revs. Charles Sams, Willie Newman and John Tagliarini will officiate. Burial will be in Swain Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Crisp Funeral Home, where the body will remain until placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the services.
