About Fanny Tunbridge
Note: At the 1861 Census, Christiana Tunbridge was single, living in the Bridge Union Workhouse, as an 'Inmate', with her two children Walter and Fanny, both born at the Workhouse, and who therefore were probably illigitimate as no father's name is known, and they have their mother's maiden name Tunbridge. Later, by the 1871 Census, Wainford Holman (63) is also listed at the Workhouse, married to Frances Christiana as Frances C Holman (40), being 23 years her senior. The children Walter and Fanny are listed with the surname Tunbridge, but Frances and Wainford have two other children listed as Jesse Holman (5) and Mary Holman (3). They had married on 9 July 1861, shortly after the 1861 Census. Also, they are each listed as a Pauper. By the 1881 Census they had left the Workhouse and are living in the St Mildred Parish, Canterbury.
