Fear Merifield was born June 26th, 1738 in Plymouth, MA, a daughter of Francis and Content Billington Merrifield/Merifield. She married Silas Shurtleff February 23rd, 1758 in Wrentham, MA. Their 1st four children all died within a weeks time of scarlet fever. They also had children: Eunice, James, Silas Jr, Oliver, Margaret, Lois, Sabria, and Drusilla Shurtleff. They lived in Cumberland, Rhode Island for several years, later moving to Charlemont, MA about 1774. Her husband Silas served in both the French and Indian War and the Revolutionary War. Fear died in 1807 aged 69. Her husband died in 1816.
