About Flight Lieutenant Richard Dacre Trevor-Roper DFC DFM

Lancaster ND390No. 97 Squadron RAF (Straits Settlements) - Airborne 22:15 on 30 Mar 1944 from Bourn to bomb a target in Nürnberg. While flying slightly E of the prescribed track, attacked by a Me110 flown by Major Martin Drewes, III./NJG 1 and crashed at Ahorn in the SW suburbs of Coburg. All are buried in the Durnbach War Cemetery. F/L Trevor-Roper had served with No. 50 Sqdn, and later with No.617 Sqdn, accompanying W/C Gibson on the Dams Raid in May 1943, for which he was awarded his DFC. His DFM was gazetted 23 Dec 1941.
