Flora Mable Despain Broadhead Cook, 97, died September 24, 2003 at her home. She resided at 92 East 800 North in Orem, Utah at the time of her death.
She was born April 5, 1906 a daughter of John Thomas Despain Jr. and Mable Ellen McCarty Despain in Sweetwater County, WY. She married Leland Thomas Broadhead April 15,
1924, in Manila, Daggett Co, UT. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. He died in 1951.
Flora grew up in Sweetwater County. She lived in Nephi, Juab Co, UT, 1924-1941 until moving to Provo, where along with her husband helped build the Sunset Ward chapel. Married Kenneth S. Cook, Orem, Feb 1956 and moved to Orem. She was an active member of the LDS Church, serving and teaching in every organization of the church, serving as a visiting teacher from age 13 to 94. She was a Provo Temple worker for 10 years. Loved to sew and knit.
But her greatest love were her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, L. Carl (Jeannett) Broadhead , Alene B. Bryant; 28 grandchildren; 77 great-grandchildren; 21 great-great-grandchildren; and stepchildren, Stanley, Marlene, Sterling, Ronald Cook. She was preceded in death by eight children, Frank T Broadhead , Donna Stickney, twins Carol Lee and Ferrell Broadhead , Alden D. Broadhead , Mary Schultz, twin Max Broadhead , and Jeanene Wolfe.
Services Mon. Sept 29, 2003, noon Sharon Park 7th Ward chapel, 85 E. 700 N, Orem. Friends may call Sun. 6:30-8:30 p.m. Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary, 495 S. State St, Orem and Mon. 11-11:45 a.m. at the chapel. Interment, Provo City Cemetery. Lunch will be at the church after interment.
